EWA believes in the possibility of clean, natural areas where people and wildlife coexist in harmony… areas where residents can walk and bicycle along beautiful greenways and people can once again safely eat fish from the Raritan River…places where everyone can discover that central New Jersey is a nature-lover’s paradise.  EWA has a small staff and a large number of dedicated volunteers generously donating their time and energy to assure an environmentally sustainable future.  EWA was founded in 1989 in response to proposed development of environmentally sensitive wetlands in north Edison, and is a non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status.  EWA works with other environmental organizations, sports enthusiasts, concerned citizens, and like-minded politicians and companies to clean up, restore, and preserve wetlands and open space throughout central New Jersey.
